Budget Beauty: (More!) Drugstore Dupes

So I have been getting comments, tweets, messages, emails, and everything else imaginable all with the same request: you guys want more drugstore dupes!

In case you missed it the first time around, drugstore dupes are basically just a cheaper and more easily accessible (hello Walmart!) version of high-end cosmetics. I have tested out all of these products and found that they are nearly identical in every way but the price tag!
I've discovered a lot of my all-time favorite drugstore dupes by subscribing to Birchbox. It's $10 for makeup box filled with a personalized mix of full-size and sample products from some seriously amazing brands! If you want to try out new products on the cheap, I highly recommend giving Birchbox a try! Click here to learn more!

The Original: Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm- $16
These guys are seriously my new favorite lip product! I love that they have the sheer color payoff of a lip gloss, but they moisturize like a lip balm! The only downside- they are pretty darn expensive for a lip balm.

Drugstore Dupe: Covergirl Lip Perfection Jumbo Gloss Balm- $7
I literally cannot tell the difference between the Covergirl version and the original. And since these are so much cheaper, you can pick up more colors. Score! (P.S.- For a full review including my thoughts on different colors, click here!)

The Original: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil- $19
A friend of mine had been absolutely raving about this liner for years, so a few months ago I finally decided to try it. The pigment is super rich and goes on really smooth. However, I just cannot justify spending almost $20 for one eyeliner pencil!

Drugstore Dupe: Prestige Total Intensity Eyeliner- $6
Thankfully, I discovered this little miracle! The only difference I noticed between this eyeliner and the Urban Decay 24/7 is that this one lasts longer. Yeah, you might want to go ahead and stock up.

The Original: MAC Fluidline Gel Eyeliner- $16
Is there any MAC product that isn't awesome? This gel eyeliner happens to be one of my absolute faves though because it goes on silky smooth and lasts all day long without a hint of raccoon eyes (unless that's the look you're going for).

Drugstore Dupe: Wet n' Wild Mega Eyes Cream Eyeliner- $4
This eyeliner pot is nearly identical to it's MAC counterpart. The only problem with these guys is that the packaging is pretty bad and causes the liner to dry out if you don't check to make sure it's screwed on super tight.

The OriginalGiorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation- $60
Yeah, I can't believe I spent $60 on foundation either. I had just heard so many good things about this foundation and I was dying to try it for myself. Although it does give really great coverage without caking up- it's still not worth $60 unless it's plated in gold. Which it's not.

Drugstore DupeCoverGirl NatureLuxe Silk Foundation- $10
NatureLuxe, just like it's pricey counterpart, goes on super smooth and lasts me all day. The formula is slightly lighter than Armani's, but it still gives medium coverage which is more than enough for me.

The Original: Dior Diorshow Mascara- $25
Diorshow is one of those iconic mascaras that every girl should try at least once in her life. It creates super long lashes (thanks to the amazing brush!) with zero clumps.

Drugstore Dupe: L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara- $6
I actually tried applying this mascara on one eye and Diorshow on the other, and there was absolutely no difference. This one is also great at lengthening lashes for a fraction of the price.

The OriginalNars Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna- $41
This compact is basically my favorite thing ever. Both the blush and the bronzer are universally flattering and super handy when you just need to throw something in your bag or apply makeup on the go.

Drugstore Dupe: e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder- $3
If you don't have $40 to shell out on Nars, this e.l.f. compact is definitely worth a shot. The powder in this palette was a bit more loose and messy for me, but it comes out as an equally beautiful color on the cheeks!

  1. Can you please find a dupe Stila Fable? I think it was only in their holiday palette because I can't find it sold by itself. It doesn't matter if it's drug store or high end.

    1. I think I was able to track it down. Is this the palette you're talking about Rebecca?- http://www.beauty.com/stila-holiday-dream-in-full-color-palette-366-value-dollars/qxp362322

Unfortunately, the colors are not labeled. So if you could identify which eye shadow in the set is Fable then I could definitely try to track down a single shadow dupe for it!

  2. It's this one...

It looks a little more gold in the pic. It's definitely a taupe.

    1. Because I've never used that exact eyeshadow or seen it in person, I can't guarantee a completely accurate dupe. However, Ulta Eyeshadow in Truffle is a really beautiful Taupe color that I personally use and would definitely recommend. Just judging from the picture you sent me, the colors look pretty similar. Here's the link, hope it helps!: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod3570089#sku2231948

  3. I totally agree with your mascara dupes. I have always used Loreal Voluminous and then was gifted a Diorshow, and thought, wow, this is no better than my old regular! So, I still buy the cheaper of the two. Pitty the Loreal is about $25 Australian, and Dior is at least well over $50 Aus.

The Nars duo is over $60 here, so am very excited to try the similar elf one, just awaiting delivery!

    Great post!

    1. Oh wow, that is crazy expensive! I would definitely recommend trying out pretty much any products in the e.l.f. studio or mineral collections, they are all really good quality without breaking the bank :)

  5. Wet'N'Wild is one of the best "dupes" for pretty much everything. I will shell out and buy Mary Kay face wash and foundation - and yes I bit the bullet and bought their brushes too which are AmAzing!

The larger compact of eye shadow that Wet'N'Wild just recently came out with includes a creme primer and highlighter - I haven't had a crease in my make-up yet, and I go from an office job at 7am to a waitress job from 5-midnight almost every day. Love it!

  6. I don't usually comment on blogs but I have to tell you that I love your blog! I am currently living in Canada but we went down to New York to shop and I was in the make-up section of Walmart and Target looking through your blog so I could find some new stuff. I got quite a few items, thanks! =)

  7. hi sarah.... i'm a senior citizen (67 - yeah go figure) and i've had to not only change my makeup because of changing skin, but also because i'm now retired on a pension. so far ALL the liquid foundations i've tried dries my skin terribly and yes, i use moisturizer and no i can't wear powder or creme-to-powder. anyway, that's not why i'm commenting. i'm commenting because your blog is fabulous and i'm now following you. i wish you the best of everything in your young, lovely life.

p.s. i found you on PINTEREST (gotta love that place)

    hugs :)

    1. Thanks so much Stef, you're too sweet!

      P.S.- Try L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation, it's great for hydrating dry skin (;

  8. The four dollar Wet n' Wild cream liner is definitely one I need to pick up! I don't really wear a lot of make-up, but fantastic eyeliner is important since I have a slight mono-lid.I spend $20 on the Tarte cream liner. Way too expensive for a college student. For $4, I can afford to give the MAC dupe a test drive :)

  9. Do you know of a good dupe for Tarts Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara? I got a samp of it and LOVE the mascara but I don't want to shell out $20 for a tube of mascara that I should replace every 2-3 months :-/ Thank you!!!

    1. I would say the Maybelline Volum Express Colossal is very similar. It's the one in the yellow tube with purple letters.

  11. So I went to sophora for the first time today, and I fell in love with the buxom full on lip polish... but I don't want to pay $19 for it... So I'm on the search for a dupe. The lady there said it had peppermint oil in it, and I think that's what I liked about it... Any ideas for a dupe?

  12. I think it might be Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish, maybe not the "Full On" lip polish...I'm not completely sure :/

  13. I said this on a diff post of yours, but I'd been using diorshow for a few years and have since switched to Neutrogena's volume mascara. I love it!
Also for the chubby stick, revlon's just bitten kissable is also a great dupe for tarte's- same peppermint smell and same pigments. i have the honey (the perfect nude) and sweetheart (bright pink)

  17. If you could find a dupe for Mac's Give Me Sun that would be unreal!

  18. I didn't have luck with the Loreal mascara, raccoon eyes. My lower lashes are very long & if they are not tipped with "proof everything" off the mascara comes & it settles so ugly under my eyes. Waterproof, smudge proof, flake proof.... Many claim to be that, but many truly aren't. Although the Loreal does produce beautiful results. I found the Maybeline Mega Plush a very close DUP. Also the Maybeline tattoo leather shadow is a beautiful DUP for the MAC.
I'm looking for a DUP for Nars light reflecting setting powder, this particular powder has a slight shimmer & isn't mat which I actually want. To much mat is just to much :-D
