My Favorite e.l.f. Products!

07 May 2013

I think every girl has that one makeup brand that just has a special place in her heart. And for me, that brand is most definitely e.l.f. Cosmetics! I've been using e.l.f. products for years now and I have just found so many items that I absolutely cannot live without and very few that I haven't liked. The best thing about e.l.f. is that they are so affordable you can really just stock up and experiment with all different products without breaking the bank.

That's why I've decided to put together a list for you guys of all my favorite e.l.f. makeup! Keep in mind, if I include every e.l.f. product I have used and liked on this list, you guys would seriously be here reading for the next year. So I'm going to try and narrow it down to the absolute best of the best! If you want to know my opinion on any products I don't mention in this post, just leave a comment for me down below and I will be sure to let you know what I think!
I've discovered a lot of my all-time favorite products by subscribing to Birchbox. It's $10 for makeup box filled with a personalized mix of full-size and sample products from some seriously amazing brands! If you want to try out new products on the cheap, I highly recommend giving Birchbox a try! Click here to learn more!

1. e.l.f. Mineral Concealer-  I use this powder concealer every single morning on blemishes and hyper-pigmentation. It has amazing coverage without looking cake-y and it blends beautifully. Plus, it's part of e.l.f.'s mineral collection which means no preservatives, parabens, or chemical dyes.

2. e.l.f. Waterproof Eyeliner Pen- This little guy is basically my substitute for liquid liner! It goes on with the same liquid consistency that is perfect for a winged eye, but it has the precision and control of a pencil liner. I've heard a lot of complaints that this eyeliner doesn't last all day, but I've never had an issue as long as I use an eyelid primer.

3. e.l.f. Studio Brushes- Literally every single makeup brush I own comes from the e.l.f. Studio brush line! The brushes are super soft and high quality, and I've had no issues with shedding like I have with more expensive brands in the past.

4. e.l.f. Translucent Matifying Powder- This powder is one of my all-time favorites for setting liquid makeup and keeping my skin matte all day long. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I love this powder so much I like to keep one in my room and then another in my purse for blotting throughout the day.

5. e.l.f. Eyelid Primer- I've actually found that this $1 primer works a lot better than most of the high-end eyelid primers I have tried! Not only does it keep my eye makeup in place all day long, but the skin-toned color of this primer is perfect for creating a neutral base so that you end up getting the true color of whatever products you're using.

6. e.l.f. Luscious Liquid Lipstick- So this item actually reminds me a lot more of a lip gloss than a lipstick.  It definitely has the more sheer, shiny consistency of a gloss but without any of the stickiness! You definitely don't get a lot of product in the little tube, but for the price it's pretty affordable to just stock up.

7. e.l.f. Studio Blush- These blushes are seriously just the best thing ever! I have pretty much every color that e.l.f. makes, and I have found that nearly every single one of them is a dupe for a high-end blush. However, the only downside I've found is that the powder used for these blushes is really loose and can get pretty messy. So just be careful around your clothes or anything else you don't want getting a natural glow!

8. e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow- The quality of these mineral shadows is just so amazing for the price. They have great pigmentation and come in a range of absolutely beautiful colors. As you guys know, I'm all about the neutral colors for my eyes so I have this product in nearly every neutral color they offer and I use all of them on a regular basis.

9. e.l.f. Studio 144-Piece Ultimate Eyeshadow Palette- So continuing with the neutral eyeshadow theme, I feel like this palette was literally just made for me because it has every color I could ever want and none of the bright colors I would never use. The color selection is so huge it can be a little overwhelming, but I've gotten used to it! It's great knowing that whatever color I need, I can find it in this palette.

10. e.l.f. Mineral Booster- Last but certainly not least, this mineral booster is basically designed to give the skin a flawless, "airbrushed" finish. I've found that it really does wonders to reduce the look of pores and any other imperfections which is why I love to use it for events where I know I'll be photographed.

And those are all of my absolute favorite e.l.f. products! I hope you girlies found this post useful and got some ideas for new products to buy either in-store or on e.l.f.'s website. Like I mentioned before, if there are any other items you're curious about and I haven't mentioned, chances are I've probably tried it! So feel free to ask any questions or share your experience with e.l.f. makeup in the comments!

  1. Loooove e.l.f, and I totally agree with the love for their blushes and brushes. I'm also a big fan of their mineral mascara. It's the perfect everyday mascara for me.

  4. Where can you get e.l.f makeup in stores? It would be hard to find the right shades for your skin tone if I was to order online.

    1. Hi Cheyanne,

I have a limited selection of e.l.f. products at my local Target and Walmart. I can't speak for every store in the country, but I know at the ones by me they only carry a sampling of products in a few shades which is why I prefer ordering online.

      Hope that helped!

  5. e.l.f. zit zapper! For $1 it works soooo much better than all the high priced brands out there! Thanks for the info on the other items. Going to have to give them a try!

    1. I actually tried the zit zapper once and it didn't seem to do much for me. I'll have to give it another shot!

So glad you found this post helpful girly, let me know how the products work out for you! :)

  6. I love their mineral eye shadows. There is some ingredient I am allergic to in other brands and E.L.F. is not one of them. The mineral makeup can be messy. I apply a light coat of coconut oil to easy cleanup.

  8. I don't wear makeup much and ELF products are perfect for me to have a small supply without breaking the bank. I absolutely adore the ELF primer, I tried other brands and this is the best for the price. I have a 36 color eye palette, a bunch of eyeliner pens (because, really, at $1 each, you may as well stock up) and the mineral concealer, foundation and booster.

  9. I just found your blog. It's so cute!

I love the Mineral Booster. Also, the Cream/Gel Eyeliner is the BEST I have used so far. It's super easy to apply, has a nice creamy consistency, is very pigmented, and doesn't budge for days. And it's only $3!

I have a beauty/lifestyle blog as well and will be sharing my favorite ELF products in the future.

  12. What a great post! I absolutely LOVE elf! Especially love ordering from them online, because they always have some kind of deal going on where you can get free items. Which is awesome so I can try new things! Plus of course the price is amazing! My faves would be the makeup mist & set. The blemish powder, and their eye brightening powder! But seriously just about everything from elf is top notch!

By the way, new follower her! Found you via pinterest! And I'd love to invite you to come link this post up to my weekly beauty linky party "Makeup Monday"! http://www.agapelovedesigns.com/2013/05/5-minute-face-makeup-monday-link-up.html

  13. so glad i found this post on pinterest! definitely trying elf next time i get make up! if i have pale skin, should i get the pearl color of the eyelid primer? or the sheer? it's something i've never used before...

    1. I think they're both great, but if you have to choose one I would go for the sheer. Since it's neutral and matte, it's a lot more versatile. Hope that helped! :)

  14. Wow, I didn't know elf had that many products. I've only seen a handful of their products in Target/my drugstores, which I've liked. I'm happy to find out they have mineral eyeshadows. I've been looking for some ever since my favorite brand (aromaleigh) went out of business and I don't like to spend a million dollars on a tiny 0.05 oz pot of shadow at Bare Minerals and other places.

  17. Do you recommend any of the ELF foundations? I have been using a powder foundation for years because the coverage is not too heavy, and I think it is easier to use than liquid foundation. Not sure about the mineral foundations...have not tired them yet, but I think I would like them better than liquid. I do like the ELF face primer, although I found a post online a while back that suggested Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel as a primer. The article stated that it had the same ingredients as Smashbox's primer. I tried it and I actually like it better than ELF!! You also get a lot more for the money. Just thought I would share!! :)

    1. Hi Jennifer,

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the e.l.f. foundations I have tried so far. They just haven't been anything that special and do not come in a wide enough range of colors that I am able to find one right for me. They do have a mineral powder foundation similar to Bare Minerals which I like, but I don't use it much just because I'm more a fan of liquid foundations.

Oh and thanks for the tip about Monistat, I'll have to try that! :)

  19. Well, I went to the ELF website. The eyelid primer is $3 on the website. At Target it is $1. I can not see how many oz. it is on the ELF website, but it is in a different looking tube. I did not compare the other prices...I guess I might drive across town to go to Target!

    1. One is the basic primer($1)&the other is the studio($3)

    2. What Elizabeth said lol! Also, they are switching over their "basic" line from $1 to $2, so that could explain the price difference as well :)

  20. Ummmm....On your blog it says the eyelid primer is $1. When I click the link it takes me to Target and it says $1. If you go to the ELF website, it says $3. To tubes look different and on the ELF website I can not see how many OZ. it is. I think I might go to Target instead of their website!

    1. I'm actually not crazy about their eyebrow palette! I don't like the colored wax, I prefer using a clear brow gel/mascara.

  22. I live for e.l.f.'s Eyelid Primer! I usually buy 5 tubes at a time (when I can find it) because my local Target is usually sold out of it.

  25. i tried the lipstain of elf and eyeliner pen but it was dreadful that i ddnt buy any elf products anymore. the lipstain was so dry that it doesn't transfer any color to my lips. same thing for the eyeliner pen. im not sure if im just not lucky with the product that i bought, but i will try it once again since i read ur review! thanks !

i would appreciate it if you checkout my new post in my blog!

  27. I just found your blog via Pinterest! It has been very helpful to me. I have been on your site for over an hour and haven't even left the beauty section yet! LOL! It's all so good!
I have to agree with all of your suggestions with E.L.F. (especially the Studio line). I have found the quality and pigmentation of their eyeshadows and blushes to rival MAC, Urban Decay, Kat Von D, and several other high end cosmetic lines, and they're a fraction of the cost!
Have you tried the HD blushes from E.L.F. yet? I haven't tried them.

    1. I haven't! I typically don't have very good luck with cream blushes because of my oily skin. Based on the reviews on e.l.f.'s website it looks promising though! If I give it a try, I'll be sure to post about it.
